Purpose
When in doubt, submit. All operators are strongly encouraged to submit a SitRep whenever they observe, receive, or identify information that may affect local, regional, or national situational awareness. If you are unsure whether something is worth reporting β€” go ahead and submit. MAGNET S2 will make the determination.
SitReps are raw information reports, not intelligence products. MAGNET S2 reviews all submissions and determines whether information meets criteria for formal S2 Report production. Submission does not guarantee publication.

Reporting categories
SitReps must fall within one or more of the following categories. Information outside these categories may not be processed.
Civil Unrest
Economy
Politics
Infrastructure
Crime
Terrorism
Military Conflict
Environment
Health
Supply Chain

Foundational standards
⚠ Headline forwarding is prohibited. Do not submit first-alert or unverified breaking news alone. The existence of a news story is not reportable β€” its operational implications are. For example: a political assassination is not reportable as a headline. The potential for rioting in response IS reportable.
βœ…
Verified, not breaking
Confirm through multiple independent sources or official confirmation before submitting.
πŸ“‹
Factual accuracy
Report verifiable facts. Clearly distinguish confirmed from unconfirmed information. Avoid speculation.
πŸ”
Source transparency
Identify source type (media, government, HUMINT, OSINT platform). Do not disclose sensitive identities.
βš–
Neutral language
Use objective, analytical tone. No partisan framing. No emotionally charged language.
πŸ•
Timeliness
Always include date, time (Zulu preferred), and location with your report.

Required SitRep structure
1
Category β€” select all that apply from the reporting categories above
2
Date / Time / Location β€” Zulu time preferred
3
Facts β€” bullet format with sources cited
4
Key metrics β€” quantitative data where possible
5
Preliminary assessment β€” 1–2 sentences, cautious, no predictive conclusions
πŸ’‘ Analytical threshold check: Before submitting, ask β€” does this provide intelligence value beyond a standard news article? If not, do not submit.

Information flow
Submission of a SitRep does not guarantee publication. All submissions are subject to the following review process:
  • Source validation
  • Deconfliction
  • Analytical threshold test
  • Precedence determination
  • Centralized approval

Source trust / confidence matrix
MAGNET S2 uses a two-part system to evaluate all incoming information. Source trust evaluates the historical reliability of the source. Confidence evaluates the credibility of the specific claim being reported. Always evaluate the claim, not just the platform β€” a trusted source can be wrong, and corroboration is always the preferred standard.
Source trust
βœ“ Trusted
  • β€” Official government agencies and public alerts
  • β€” Law enforcement, fire, EMS notifications
  • β€” Reuters, AP, and established outlets with named sourcing
  • β€” Court filings, public records, official documents
  • β€” Verified firsthand witness reports with time/location
  • β€” Known MAGNET operators with proven history
⚠ Questionable
  • β€” Breaking news with incomplete early facts
  • β€” Anonymous eyewitness accounts
  • β€” Social media posts lacking location/time context
  • β€” Partisan commentary outlets
  • β€” Secondhand claims (“someone told me…”)
  • β€” New contributors with no track record
βœ— Untrusted
  • β€” Known hoax or impersonation accounts
  • β€” Fabricated screenshots or altered documents
  • β€” Satire presented as factual news
  • β€” Propaganda channels spreading disinformation
  • β€” AI-generated media falsely presented as real
  • β€” Anonymous calls to action without evidence
Confidence levels
High
Confirmed by multiple credible and independent sources
Medium
Plausible with partial corroboration or one strong source
Low
Single-source, weakly supported, conflicting, or unconfirmed
